We’re watching a docudrama about an Armenian genocide survivor. It combines archival footage and animation and tell us about the human toll of the 1915 genocide and its role in the formation of the Armenian diaspora.
Today, the Armenian genocide is recognised in only 34 countries. It is seldom talked about, despite the deaths of over one million people. Germany was knowingly complacent and the logic of the Armenian genocide later informed the tactics of the Holocaust. In spite of this, Germany only recognised the Armenian genocide in 2015.
